What the compound is

Reading the concentration table

The table on this page crosses three vial sizes against three water volumes. Concentration is simply the milligrams of peptide divided by the milliliters of water added. Nothing is created or destroyed by reconstitution. The mass in the vial is fixed by the vial; you are only choosing how thinly to spread it.

Two things are worth noticing. First, the same concentration can be reached from different starting points. A 10 mg vial in 2 mL and a 5 mg vial in 1 mL both give 5 mg/mL. The larger vial simply lasts longer at that strength. Second, three of the nine results are repeating decimals, such as 0.67 mg/mL and 3.33 mg/mL. Those come from dividing by 3 mL. A rounded concentration means every draw you calculate from it carries rounding with it, which is a reason many people prefer 1 mL or 2 mL.

The third thing is a direction, not a number. Adding more water lowers concentration, which makes each measured dose a larger and easier to see volume in the syringe. Adding less water raises concentration and shrinks the volume drawn. Neither is correct in the abstract. It is a tradeoff between measurement precision and how much liquid you are handling.

How the vial and dose figures relate

Listings for Sermorelin commonly show vials of 2 mg, 5 mg and 10 mg, with water volumes of 1 mL, 2 mL or 3 mL used to reconstitute them. The reason both sets of numbers matter is that they interact. A dose expressed in milligrams has to be converted into a volume before a syringe can measure it, and that conversion requires the concentration. Change the water volume and the same milligram dose becomes a different number of syringe units. The vial label alone is never enough information.

Bacteriostatic water is the diluent named in the table because it contains a preservative intended for multi-use vials. Sterile water without preservative is a different product.
