What the unit mark actually measures
A U-100 insulin syringe is graduated in units, and the full barrel reads 100 units at 1 mL. The marks measure volume, not drug. They know nothing about what is in the vial.
That is the whole reason a conversion chart has to exist. A unit is a fixed slice of liquid, so the amount of Sermorelin sitting inside that slice depends entirely on how concentrated the solution is. Concentration comes from two numbers you control: the milligrams of powder in the vial and the millilitres of bacteriostatic water you add to it.
So the sequence is always the same. Vial size divided by water volume gives concentration in mg/mL. Dose divided by concentration gives the volume to draw. That volume, read against a U-100 barrel, is your unit count. The table on this page has already run that arithmetic for a 5 mg vial across the water volumes and doses that appear in listings.
Three things worth noticing in the chart
First, adding more water does not reduce the dose. It spreads the same powder across more liquid, so each unit carries less drug and you draw more units to get the same milligrams. A 0.1 mg dose is 2 units at 1 mL of water, 4 units at 2 mL, and 6 units at 3 mL. Identical dose, three different readings on the barrel.
Second, the same unit count can mean different doses. Twelve units appears twice in the table: once for 0.2 mg from a vial mixed with 3 mL, and once for 0.3 mg from the same vial mixed with 2 mL. Four units appears twice as well. A unit count written down on its own, without the vial size and the water volume beside it, is not information. It is a number that could mean several things.
Third, the doses in circulation for Sermorelin are small, and at the tightest mix the readings get very small with them. A 0.1 mg dose from a 5 mg vial in 1 mL lands on 2 units. That is a couple of marks near the very bottom of the barrel, where a wobble in the plunger is a large fraction of what you intended to draw. The same dose at 3 mL of water reads 6 units, which is a longer, easier stretch of the scale to hit.
Choosing a water volume
Sermorelin vials are sold in 2 mg, 5 mg and 10 mg sizes. The computed table on this page covers the 5 mg vial only, mixed with 1, 2 or 3 mL. If you hold a different vial size, the arithmetic is the same shape but the concentrations and unit counts are not, so do not carry these numbers across.
Within the 5 mg vial, the three water volumes produce concentrations of 5 mg/mL, 2.5 mg/mL and 1.67 mg/mL. Nothing about the drug changes between them. What changes is how far apart your doses sit on the syringe scale, and how much liquid goes under the skin each time.
The practical trade is readability against volume. More water gives you more units per dose and more room for error to be small in proportion. Less water keeps the injected volume down. This page does not tell you which side of that trade to take, and it does not tell you how much water to use. It tells you what each combination reads on the barrel.

- Does adding more bacteriostatic water make the dose weaker?
- No. The vial contains the same amount of powder regardless of how much water you add. More water lowers the concentration, so you draw more units to deliver the same milligrams. The chart shows this directly: 0.1 mg is 2 units at 1 mL of water and 6 units at 3 mL.
- Can I use these numbers for a 2 mg or 10 mg vial?
- No. The table is computed for a 5 mg vial. A different vial size mixed with the same water volume gives a different concentration and therefore a different unit count. Using 5 mg figures with another vial size would misread the dose.
- Why do two rows in the chart both say 12 units?
- Because unit counts describe volume, not drug. Twelve units of a 1.67 mg/mL solution delivers 0.2 mg, while twelve units of a 2.5 mg/mL solution delivers 0.3 mg. The syringe reading is only meaningful alongside the vial size and the water volume used.
- How long does Sermorelin stay in the body?
